These birds breed only in the mountains of Costa Rica and western Panama.
At 11cm long and weighing 5.7 grams, they are considered medium-sized hummingbirds.
They thrive in cloud forests at 4,600 feet & above.
Males will fight over food sources and share with their female counterparts.
They seek out flowers with high sugar content.
Hovering gives them complete body control while feeding.
Many plants rely on these birds for pollination.
