Crossing This River Can Mean Life or Death for Millions of Animals
Each year during the dry season, an epic migration is a sight to behold on the Serengeti as millions of animals traverse the wild African landscape in search of food. Many herds of wildebeest, impala, giraffes, and more will face down one enormous obstacle on their journey: the daunting Mara River. Successfully crossing the river will mean access to lush grasslands to graze on, but survival is not guaranteed for all. Thousands will drown in the river's currents or be caught in the jaws of opportunistic predators like crocodiles, cheetahs, and lions. As the 2017 migration season comes to an end, see the wildlife that braved the waters of the Mara River. For more Safari Live action, visit
