While these young lions appear to be just playing, they are learning valuable life lessons.
As the adults rest, these mischevious cubs wrestle with one another...
practicing their takedown skills and communication through tail flicks.
Unlike other big cats, lions have a tassell at the end of their tails for added visibility in the long grass.
The tassel usually appears between the ages of five and seven months old.
When they aren't wrestling with siblings, some cubs scratch tree bark, much like a house cat does...
Doing so strengthens importatn tendons in their feet and sharpens and trims their claws.
