Towering over the African savanna, giraffes are the world's tallest animals.
Ranging between 14 and 19 feet in size, giraffes graze on treetop leaves and buds.
While their height allows them to reach food and spot predators, it also has its downsides...
Giraffes only need to drink once every few days, but when they do, they must bend awkwardly.
Doing so leaves them low and vulnerable to Africa's big cats, always looking for a meal.
While cheetahs are not strong enough to take down a giraffe, lions and leopards can.
But, in the meantime, giraffes spend their time eating hundreds of pounds of food a week.
Using their 21-inch-long tongue, giraffes pluck their food from the trees.
And, like cows, they regurgitate their food and chew it again as cud.
