Karan Menon, an eighth grader from New Jersey, is the winner of a
$50,000 college scholarship, a trip to the Galápagos Islands, and a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society. Shriya Yarlagadda, a sixth grader from Michigan, came in second place. She missed an earlier question in the final round: Mariupol, a city located at the mouth of the Kalmius River, is located on what sea that is an arm of the Black Sea? Answer: Sea of Azov.
