March 7, 2018 - How do you track the location of thousands of wasps? A dab of super glue, and tiny radio transmitter backpacks. National Geographic Explorer Patrick Kennedy followed the movements of paper wasps to try and unravel the origin of animal altruism. Wasps are highly social and cooperative creatures, and this behavior may evolve to deal with a risky world. Unpredictable environments may cause animals to come together and help each other out, even at the expense of their own wellbeing to help ensure the survival of their close relatives.
