Sloth Saved from Train Track and Released to Brazilian Rainforest
March 2, 2018 - This female three-toed sloth was rescued near light rail train tracks in the island city of São Vicente, in southeast Brazil. As the world’s slowest mammal, sloths are unable to respond quickly to danger. The city’s animal rangers took the sloth to vets at Voturuá Ecological Park for a health check.
After two months of parasite and worm treatments, the sloth was released in a remote area of the park. There, she’ll hang in the trees, away from the threat of vehicles.
