Heavy Rains Submerge Hiking Trails in Crystal Clear Waters
Usually, you’d be able to walk these paths. But the Olho D'Água river had submerged these hiking trails in Brazil’s Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata. Torrential rains in a short period of time lead to the flooding – a rare phenomenon that has happened at least three times in the last 16 years. Olho D’Água ("eyes of water”) is a popular snorkeling spot known for its crystalline waters. The clarity of the river comes from minerals that rapidly take out dirt and impurities as they descend to the bottom. The water receded to its normal level by the end of the day. Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata is in Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil’s pantanal region.
