February 2, 2018—Two young bonobos seemed to be "playing airplane" at the Cincinnati Zoo. They may not have airplanes in mind, but Zookeeper Jeremy Phan explains that Bo, aged two, and the more dexterous seven-year-old Zeke, really are playing. When Phan filmed the moment, he could even hear tickling-induced laughter, although that's not audible in the recording. Play is important for the genetically humanlike bonobos throughout their lives.
