Thieving Baboons Know When To Steal From You
Nov. 9, 2017 - Baboons are notoriously aggressive thieves—and a new study sheds light on their strategy. Scientists put GPS collars on male baboons in Cape Town, South Africa (not pictured) to track their movements while finding food. They found that the primates employed a sit-and-wait strategy, raiding neighborhoods and homes at the most opportune times. As a result, the urban baboons foraged for only about 10% of their time—considerably less than their counterparts in more rural areas.
