Oct. 5, 2017 - Syria plunged into a brutal civil war in 2011. It left many victims, including animals that were abandoned as the fighting intensified. Out of about 300 animals that lived in Magic World zoo—on the outskirts of Aleppo—only 13 remained after six years of war. Four Paws, an international animal welfare group, launched a plan to rescue them from the war zone, take them to Turkey, and then to sanctuaries in Jordan.
