Why Does This Man Have 33 Horns on His Back?
Sept. 29, 2017 - Why is this man in Jakarta, Indonesia being covered in buffalo horns? It's not for a dinosaur costume party. It's a form of dry cupping, an alternative medicine practice that uses heated cups to create suction on the body. The intention is to increase blood flow to the area, to aid in healing. Cupping has been practiced for over 3,000 years, and traditionally it uses glass cups. These horns are likely sourced from domestic water buffalo. Despite its use by Olympic athletes, there is little scientific evidence that suggests cupping provides health benefits. It can provide a sharp outfit, however.
