Tapir Breaks Out of Zoo, Gets Stuck in Palace Pond
August 31, 2017 - Rescuers saved a tapir after it fell into a pond in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The tapir escaped while being transferred to a conservation center and became trapped in the water. Tapirs have short trunks and are related to horses and rhinoceroses. They can grow to be 800 pounds. It suffered blisters on its body, legs, and back. After being treated for a month or two it will be released back into its habitat.
