What Makes Hurricane Harvey So Potentially Deadly
Transcript
Hurricane Harvey is showing the signs of a catastrophic storm.
Harvey is going through rapid intensification.
This means its maximum sustained winds have increased at least 30 knots per hour in a 24-hour period.
Harvey’s top winds grew from 60 mph to 120 mph on Friday.
Top winds have reached 130 mph, which make it a Category 4 storm on the Saffir-Simpson Scale.
The storm is expected to bring 25 inches of rain that will last up to five days.
And Harvey will linger, moving only a few miles an hour … which will increase the potential of flooding.
The combination of intense rain and high winds could lead to severe damage throughout the region.
