Watch: Elephant Rescued After Being Swept 10 Miles Out to Sea
Transcript
A strong current swept an Asian elephant 10 miles into the ocean off Sri Lanka.
Elephants are good swimmers and can stay afloat despite their large size.
But this elephant struggled to make it back to shore.
Naval personnel went out to rescue the elephant.
One rescuer climbed onto the animal’s back to guide it to safety.
With the Navy’s help, the elephant was able to make it back to dry land.
