orcas attacking a minke whale off the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia. The orcas chased their prey until it was fatigued and drowned. Then they consumed almost the entire whale, leaving only a dorsal fin behind. Orcas are apex predators that feed on both fish and other marine mammals. Scientists who observed the hunt said it was rare to see orcas take down a whale so close.
