June 29, 2017 - Footage of tornadoes is both mesmerizing and terrifying. It can also be highly educational for scientists. Using high-resolution video, National Geographic Explorer Anton Seimon is trying to understand how tornadoes act where they impact humans the most—on the ground. Seimon and his team captured this footage of tornadeso in the Midwest in June 2017. They're hoping to use crowdsourced footage of the same storms to create a 3-D map that will give them further insight into how these deadly storms behave.
