Attacked for Being Albino, Kids Receive Prosthetic Limbs and New Hope
Transcript
This 15-year-old Tanzanian boy lost his limb in a vicious attack … attacked because he has albinism. In Tanzania, superstition leads some to believe that the body parts of those with albinism can bring wealth and success. Many people with albinism have been maimed or killed so that their body parts could be used in rituals and potions. Those with albinism also face discrimination in parts of sub-Saharan Africa. Through the support of charities, the boy and three other children came to the United States to receive prosthetics. The children will return home where they will live in safe houses for protection.
