June 7, 2017 - Deep in the ocean off Australia, scientists found a rarely seen horror - a deep-sea lizard fish, complete with a maw of sharp teeth and haunting black eyes. Lizard fish are ambush predators, lying in wait for unlucky prey to cross their path before striking. Once prey is caught, their flexible teeth force the catch deeper into their mouths. They can grow more than two feet in length, and have both male and female organs which enables them to mate with any member of their species. The fish live 3,000 feet to over 8,000 feet below the surface and rarely encounter humans.
