May 1, 2017 - When homeowners in Sydney, Australia, found a dying female kangaroo on their property, they called rescuers to help. Unfortunately, the kangaroo died before help arrived, but the rescuers were able to pull a tiny joey from the mother’s pouch. Still attached to his mother’s teat, the rescuers had to cut him loose to avoid injuring his mouth by pulling him off. Weighing about nine ounces and around a month old, the baby kangaroo’s chances of survival aren’t great. The rescuers placed the joey in a make-shift pouch and brought him to an experienced carer in hopes he can grow up healthy and eventually be released back into the wild.
