Satao II, a 50-year-old “giant tusker” elephant, has been killed by poachers.
He was named after the famous tusker, Satao, who was killed in 2014.
With large tusks weighing over 100 pounds each, tusker elephants are a prime target for poachers.
As few as 25 tuskers remain in Africa.
They carry with them decades of experience that younger elephants learn from.
