March 15, 2017 - If your coastal land is eroding, where do you put a hospital? On a boat. For some Bangladeshis, their only form of potentially life-saving healthcare comes from one source - a floating hospital. Bangladesh is low lying and densely populated, and suffers the effects of climate change possibly more than any other country in the world. Many people live on islands made of silt, called chars, that form and disintegrate every few years, a process which will only accelerate with sea rise. Since no permanent structures can be built, the floating hospital is the best hope for these inhabitants to get healthcare and treatment.
