Mysterious "Hairy Blob" Washes Ashore in the Philippines
Feb. 27, 2017 - Can you guess what sea creature this carcass belongs to? It might look like nothing you’ve ever seen before, but that’s likely because the carcass is very decomposed. The carcass recently washed ashore on the Dinagat Islands in the Philippines, measuring about 20 feet in length and weighing more than 4,000 pounds. In reality, it may belong to a whale, but further testing would be needed to know for sure.

What is this “hairy blob” that washed ashore in the Philippines?
We know its remains are about 20 feet long and weigh over 2 tons.
And that “hair” could actually be decomposed muscle fibers.
It could be the remains of a whale.
But its carcass is so decomposed, it’s hard to say for sure.
