Transcript
Snorkelers in Hanauma Bay, Oahu, Hawaii, recorded this underwater battle: moray eel vs. octopus.
Morays primarily feed on octopuses and other small fish and crustaceans.
The octopus defends itself by grappling the eel with its tentacles, and releasing an ink cloud to aid in its escape.
The eel manages to bite off a part of the octopus’s tentacle.
An octopus can lose a tentacle and regrow it later without any permanent damage.
With the octopus gone, the eel moves to another target: the snorkeler.
