Nov. 4, 2016 — Each year between May and July, South Africa’s east coast hosts an incredible spectacle as thousands of predators, including several species of sharks, dolphins, baleen whales, and diving birds, all congregate at one of the planet’s largest migrations. This is the Sardine Run, and while each of these fish is small, they number in the billions, and their shoal stretches for miles. The mass provides safety for the sardines, but it's also a concentrated food source for the marine life that follows them.
