March 3, 2015 - Footage shot over the past three months by the Japan Coast Guard shows a series of eruptions from a volcano on an uninhabited island about 600 miles (970 kilometers) south of Tokyo. The volcano first broke above the Pacific Ocean on November 20, 2013, and subsequently merged with neighboring Nishino Shima, which is now roughly one square mile (2.5 square kilometers) and growing.
