Today, we're going to Saqqara, Egypt where beneath the ancient temple of Anubis, god of the Dead, lie the mummified remains of millions of canines, some of whom lived for only days or even hours.
National Geographic's Paul Nicholson is looking for answers.
Working with Egyptian Antiquities authorities, Nicholson and his team suspect the animals may have been offered up to Anubis over many years-in thanks, or in the hope of divine intervention...and there are at least 7 million of them.
