Nat Geo explores a hidden paradise for the first time!
I'm Lucie McNeil and this is National Geographic On Assignment—your link you to thousands of Nat Geo Expeditions around the globe.
Today, we're off to the Big Island of Hawaii. Few places on our planet remain unexplored, but one of them is here in Hawaii, on the eastern slopes of the Mauna Kea Volcano.
National Geographic's Eric Leifer and his team went on a quest to find out what lies inside the untouched canyons of this remote area....and film it!
Their footage reveals them struggling through countless waterfalls and nearly impenetrable vegetation, even jumping off a small cliff into a pool of water below.
By documenting this pristine forest, the team hopes to be able to fill in another blank spot on our maps.
