Owen Dailey (
00:28):
People say that the smell is like what you remember the most about things. I just remember the smell, I missed it. I missed the smell of the school. It just flooded all back to me really. Right before my senior year, I was homeless. Getting through that and getting through this at the same time, it's just felt like I really accomplished something.
Anaste Berry (
00:58):
Well, I came from the inner city of Milwaukee. Being that I am a twin, made the transition somewhat easier.
Zakiria Berry (
01:07):
With gym, it was just like, you just think all the memories in here.
Anaste Berry (
01:11):
All the dances we get all dressed up and we meet our friends, anyway stuff like that. It's like we commit together as a family.
Benny Draeger (
01:21):
I like anywhere that's empty. So I used to just walk around the hallways, just because school already stressed me out enough. Just being alone feels good.
Ismael Bastardo (
01:37):
To be popular means a lot to me because I work hard to build friendships and to have a good reputation. I would have experienced my last year of baseball here and what it's like to be in class with your jersey on and being noticed and all. It's hard to accept the fact that you had your last day of high school and you didn't even know it.
Mike Lewandowski (
02:14):
Everybody's timeline is different. Everybody has a different way that they want to end up. And our job is to help them get there. Helping kids be better than how they come. I was uncomfortable with just saying, "I'm going to do some virtual thing."
The majority of our kids don't go on to four year universities, this is really their last opportunity to get a graduation ceremony.
They deserve it.
Owen Dailey (
02:59):
I mean, I overcame a lot. High school was easy compared to the rest of your life, but it's still a challenge for everybody.
Benny Draeger (
03:07):
I would want to say like, "Oh, high school isn't for me." But like it is. Everybody has to go through it to learn, mostly about themselves.
Anaste Berry (
03:19):
Well, I think it's time for us to be apart for a little bit.
Zakiria Berry (
03:23):
Yo, don't make me say it. I mean, we had time to be upset, but like we ready to start our future.
Owen Dailey (
03:37):
You never really say goodbye, you know? It takes a long time, you're still going to see them again someday, somehow.
