Flying Endangered Wild Horses From France to Mongolia
Claudia Feh is the 2004 Rolex Awards for Enterprise Laureate in Environment. Feh has spent more than 30 years observing free-living horses, and has established herself as a world expert on their behavior. In France, Claudia spent over a decade raising the world’s only natural herd of Przewalski horses, the world’s last truly wild horse. She reintroduced the first two groups of 12 Przewalski horses to the Mongolian steppes in September 2004, and then proceeded to ensure that local nomads and the international experts benefit equally from the initiative by sharing information in a pioneering learning forum in a village in western Mongolia.
