Best Disguised Predator Fish?
One of the world's best camouflaged fishes is also the most venomous. The stonefish hides on the sea bottom, undetectable to its prey.

To the casual observer, not much is taking place in these waters.
But it only appears that way.
A closer look reveals something remarkable.
The reef stonefish.
The stonefish spends his days lying near rocks and coral, or burrowed in the sand, hiding in plain sight.
His warty, bumpy skin is nearly indistinguishable from the sand and coral surrounding him. It’s an amazing adaptation.
In addition to excellent camouflage, stonefish claim the title of ‘most venomous fish in the world.’ The unclad foot of an unwary water enthusiast is a prime target for its powerful toxin.
But otherwise, the stonefish is content to remain motionless until a small fish swims by. And quick as a flash, the stonefish gets a snack.
