I'll bet all your old photographs and negatives are sitting around in boxes like this.
But with digital photography the clutter is gone.
But so are your durable negatives and prints.
Those one-of-a-kind photos you've been stockpiling on your computer could be wiped out in a hard drive crash.
Backing up your images is the only way to ensure the safety of the future.
The first thing you want to do is organize your pictures.
Scroll through and delete the ones that you don't want.
Then make a new album and for the pictures you do want.
And drag your images to it.
Now export the group to a new folder.
Jpeg or Tiff are good formats.
Make sure to select maximum quality and full size.
Good forms of backup media are hard drives or CDs and DVDs.
The last step is to backup by either copying your picture folder to hard drive...
Or burning to disk.
Technology moves fast so don't get left behind.
Down the road you'll want to revisit your archived images and make sure the formats and media are still in popular use.
