The Cuckoo and the Hurricane: The Strangest Weather Story Ever Told?

On October 15, 1987, a woman phoned the BBC to say she'd “heard a hurricane was on the way." BBC weatherman Michael Fish mentioned the call in his forecast and assured viewers that it wasn't the case. Unfortunately, it was. One of the worst storms in 300 years hit southeastern England and northern France that night with hurricane-force winds. In this animated short from filmmaker Steve Kirby, hear from the son of the BBC caller as he recounts to Nick Pandolfi the tale of how his mother was able to predict the Great Storm of 1987.
