How This Tennis Champion Defied The Odds

At the age of 14, Jordanne Whiley became Britain's youngest national women's singles champion in wheelchair tennis. Now, at the age of 22, she's a Paralympian who's won five consecutive Grand Slam doubles championships. In this short documentary from filmmaker Zak Razvi, Whiley reflects on her childhood growing up with osteogensis imperfecta, known as brittle bone disease, and the influence of her father, who is also a Paralympian and has the disease.

The Short Film Showcase spotlights exceptional short videos created by filmmakers from around the web and selected by National Geographic editors. We look for work that affirms National Geographic's mission of inspiring people to care about the planet. The filmmakers created the content presented, and the opinions expressed are their own, not those of the National Geographic Society.
