Five Indigenous Communities Fight for their Land

Under the umbrella of the United Nations Development Programme, the Equator Initiative supports the work of local and indigenous communities worldwide in creating sustainable development solutions. The Equator Prize—awarded to 20 communities this year—recognizes those efforts. This short from Perspective Film Production highlights the work of five of the recipients fighting to secure land rights for their communities.

The Short Film Showcase spotlights exceptional short videos created by filmmakers from around the web and selected by National Geographic editors. We look for work that affirms National Geographic's belief in the power of science, exploration, and storytelling to change the world. The filmmakers created the content presented, and the opinions expressed are their own, not those of the National Geographic Society.
