'DamNation': Behind the Scenes With the Filmmakers

DamNation filmmakers Travis Rummel and Ben Knight emphasize the importance of the work of activist and artist Mikal Jakubal, who painted a crack on the Glines Canyon Dam in 1987. The filmmakers speak about the importance of activism in this interview with the Banff Centre. "Without activism nothing will get done; there [have] to be people that are changing the conversation," says Rummel.

The Short Film Showcase spotlights exceptional short videos created by filmmakers from around the web and selected by National Geographic editors. We look for work that affirms National Geographic's mission of inspiring people to care about the planet. The filmmakers created the content presented, and the opinions expressed are their own, not those of the National Geographic Society.
