Animals Return to Canada’s Pacific Coast

In this interview from the Banff Centre, photographer and conservationist Ian McAllister talks about the resurgence of marine life along Canada’s Pacific Coast, and how potential plans to build an oil pipeline could impact the area. McAllister founded Pacific Wild, an organization that focuses on research, exploration, and campaigning to protect a remote region in British Columbia called the Great Bear Rainforest. In his new book, Great Bear Wild, McAllister presents a stunning collection of photographs and personal observations of the spectacular area he calls home.

The Short Film Showcase spotlights exceptional short videos created by filmmakers from around the web and selected by National Geographic editors. We look for work that affirms National Geographic's mission of inspiring people to care about the planet. The filmmakers created the content presented, and the opinions expressed are their own, not those of the National Geographic Society.
