- Freak Wave Pushes Cars - March 14, 2008—An unusually high wave crashed onto a boulevard in northwestern Spain, pushing people and cars aside. Much of Western Europe saw harsh weather this week.
- French Wine From Africa? - March 3, 2008—One of France's largest winemakers plans to begin production in Ethiopia, where an unusual climate allows farmers two grape harvests a year.
- Galapagos Volcano Erupts - June 2, 2008—A volcano on a Galápagos island has erupted after ten years of relative silence.
- Gandhi's Ashes Spread - January 30, 2008—Sixty years to the day after his assassination, some of Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were scattered across the Arabian Sea Wednesday. Descendants of India's iconic, non-violent leader took part in the ceremonies.
- Giant Fish Helped by Fishing? - July 15, 2008—At an artificial lake in Thailand, several of the world's largest and rarest freshwater fish lurk near anglers' baited hooks—and some conservationists couldn't be happier.
- Giant Waves Crash Over Buildings - September 9, 2008—Surging over buildings as tall as five stories, waves from Hurricane Ike pounded a Cuban town on Monday. The hurricane is headed for the U.S. Gulf Coast.
- Gorilla Massacre Investigation - June 24, 2008—After ten rare mountain gorillas were killed execution-style in a Congo park, Congolese authorities have arrested a senior park official in connection with the slayings.
- Gorillas Find Refuge in Uganda - October 22, 2007— A Ugandan national park is a sanctuary for some 325 mountain gorillas, about half of the critically endangered species' population.
