- "El Caiman Libre Va" - Antonio "El Curi" Curiel is a transplanted Spanish singer/songwriter working in Cuba. On this track, from his 2004 album, En La Habana, he performs with legendary Afro-Cuban roots band Septeto Santiaguero.
- "El Pepepez" - Los de Abajo was formed in Mexico City in 1992 and named for the novel by Mariano Azuela, which tells the story of the Mexican revolution through the eyes of the working class, and their music displays that same political spirit.
- "Fo m Ale" - Haitian singer Emeline Michel brings a jazz and gospel background to bear on the folkloric style known as "twobadou"—which translates as "troubadour." This song is from her 2003 album Cordes Et Ame.
- "Guajira" - New York-based Latin alternative band Yerba Buena is the brainchild of producer and multi instrumentalist Andres Levin. This track is taken from the group's 2005 release Island Life.
- "Inovidable" - Pianist Bebo Valdés is a veteran of the mid-century "golden age" of Cuban music. Now in his eighties, Valdés made this recording of a Cuban standard with Spanish flamenco singer Diego "la Cigala" in 2005.
- "Koka" - Kiran Ahluwalia lives in Canada, but was born in the Punjab in India, and specializes in Punjabi folksongs and ghazals. This song, about a girl choosing between suitors, comes from her self-titled 2005 release.

- "The Stepping Song" - Mary Jane Lamond preserves the unique Celtic music and culture of Canada's Cape Breton region. The Stepping Song is a reel, and although the video is fanciful, it captures the excitement of Celtic dance.
- "Ya No Hace Falta" - Bamboleo is a Cuban dance band known for their hard-hitting timba music—a style that's a homegrown Cuban answer to New York salsa. "Ya No Hace Falta" is the title track of the group's now classic 1991 album.
