- "Lufuala Ndonga" - Konono No.1 is a group from the city of Kinshasa in the Congo, who make homemade amplifiers for their traditional likembé thumb pianos to achieve a new urban African sound. This track is taken from the group's 2005 debut Congotronics.
- "Mama" - Khadja Nin is a singer and musician from Burundi who now resides in Belgium. Together with partner Nicolas Fiszman she writes songs the combine traditional Central African rhythms with sparkling pop arrangements.

- "Nwalhulwana" - Wazimbo is the lead singer of Mozambique's top dance band, Orchestra Marrabenta Star. This song was originally recorded in 1988, and re-released in 2001 as the title track of the band's comeback album.
- "Parisien Du Nord" - Cheb Mami was born in Algeria, but he became a star singing Raï music for the Algerian expatriate community in France. This 1999 video, from the album Meli Meli, features rapper K-mel and celebrates that same community.
- "Plegaria" - Singer/songwriter Naim Alal is from the disputed territory of Western Sahara, and is one of the innovators of the local style known as haoul.
