- Daara J—"Boomerang" - Senegalese rap crew Daara J fuse hip-hop, dancehall reggae and tongue-twisting Wolof proverbs into a sound all their own. This video, for the title track of their 2003 international debut, speaks of rap's circular journey home to Africa.
- Damian Marley Ft. Nas—"Road To Zion" - Queensbridge meets Kingston when NY hip-hop legend Nas teamed up with Bob Marley's son Damian on this crossover jailhouse banger from 2005.
- Gokh-Bi System—"Rap Tassu" - The members of Gokh-Bi, which means "neighborhood," came together in an impoverished suburb of Dakar, Senegal in the 1990's. Their single "Rap Tassu" is about a Senegalese style of music called tassu, which some believe is a precursor to hip-hop.
- Gypsy.Cz—"Jednou" - The Czech Republic's Gypsy.Cz combines rap attitude with Roma musicial virtousity on this astonishing track.

- K'Naan—"Soobax" - Rapper K'Naan hails from Somalia by way of Canada. Known as the "Dusty-Foot Philosopher," his poetic rhymes embrace both the personal and the political.
- K'naan Ft. Chubb Rock—"ABC's" - K'naan grew up in warn-torn Somalia and escaped to Harlem, New York and then Canada as a teenager. This track, from his 2009 sophomore release, features old-school hip-hop artist Chubb Rock and adds a personal touch to challenges African people face.
- K'Naan—"Great Depression" - Somali-Canadian rapper K'Naan confronts today's tough issues with this video featuring memorable political, natural, and personal imagery.

- N.A.S.A.—"Money" - N.A.S.A. consists of musicians Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon, whose music draws from Brazilian funk. "Money" features David Byrne, Chuck D, Ras Congo, Seu Jorge, and Z-Trip, and art from Shepard Fairey, who designed Obama's famous campaign poster.
- Orishas—"537 Cuba" - Orishas were three Cuban expatriates living in Paris when they took Cuban hip-hop to the next level with their 1999 breakthrough A lo Cubano.

- Sister Fa—"Milyamba" - Sister Fa started her hip-hop career in Senegal but is now based in Berlin, Germany. In "Milyamba" she raps about the hard life of a woman in the Senegalese countryside. Outside her music career she is an outspoken opponent of female circumcism.
- Skwatta Kamp—"Feel Like Dancing" - South African rappers Skwatta Kamp brought a fresh, new life to Johannesburg's homegrown kwaito sound with their 2003 breakthrough album.
- Snook—"Inga Problem" - Swedish rappers Snook won the award for Best Swedish Act in the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards. They write all their lyrics in their native Swedish. Inga problem means "no problem."
- Snook—"Kommer Ifran" - Snook, a hip-hop group from Stockholm, is popular in Sweden in part for their insistence on singing in their native language. Many Swedish acts sing in English to reach a larger international audience.
- Snook—"Snook Svett Och Tarar" - A quirky video from our favorite Swedish hip-hop group, Snook. The title means, "Snook, sweat, and tears."
- Tego Calderon, Don Omar—"Chillin" - Two titans of Puerto Rican reggaeton team up on this reggae-inflected video shot in Jamaica.
- Zola—"Lwandle Guluva" - South Africa rapper Zola helps put Jo'burg on the map with a world-class flow.
- Zoro—"Azania" - Zoro grew up under apartheid. In 1989 he was shot by a policeman and paralyzed from the waist down, though after a year he was walking again. In "Azania" he sings in the Xhosa language about injustice in South Africa.
