Photographing Women’s Struggles Worldwide

Are women's lives in Afghanistan as hard as we think they are? Photojournalist Lynsey Addario wanted to find out. In 2000 she traveled to Afghanistan to photograph the lives of women under the Taliban. While in Afghanistan, Addario took an interest in women's health issues. She covered maternal mortality, which she continued to document in Sierra Leone, before traveling to Uganda where she captured the devastating impacts of breast cancer.
