Yosemite Climbers Make History on the World’s Hardest Free Climb

On January 14, 2015, in California’s Yosemite National Park, American rock climbers Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson achieved a seven-year dream—and something that was considered impossible: They completed the first free ascent of El Capitan’s 3,000-foot Dawn Wall, considered the hardest rock climb in the world.

Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson are 2016 National Geographic Adventurers of the Year.
