Polar Bear Predation

October 21, 2013 - Scientists have known for decades that polar bears like to eat eggs in the summer. But a new study from Utah State University is trying to find out how melting Arctic sea ice is affecting this behavior. Near Churchill, Manitoba, scientists observed the polar bears' egg diet yielded close to 250,000 calories per week. The bears were also eating some of the birds who laid the yolk-filled meals.
