Infrared Scans of King Tut's Tomb Hint at a Hidden Chamber

November 6, 2015 - The first scans of a wall in King Tut's tomb suggest that National Geographic grantee Nicholas Reeves could be rightanother chamber may indeed be hidden behind it. Reeves thinks the chamber might be the tomb of Queen Nefertiti, the principal wife of Akhenaten, who's believed to have fathered Tutankhamun with another wife. A team of scientists used infrared thermography to scan the wall overnight, looking for changes in temperature in different sections of it that would be evidence of a separate room. Analysis of the scans is continuing.
