Endangered Baby Rhino Caught on Camera

Sept. 23, 2015 - Camera trap footage from Ujung Kulon National Park in Indonesia provides some good news for the critically endangered Javan rhinoceros. Though 57 of these rhinos had been known to live in the park, recent sightings of three calves, such as the one shown in this video, bring that number up to 60. Ujung Kulon National Park is the only protected area where the Javan rhino survives in the wild. The rhino remains in danger from poaching and natural disasters such as tsunamis and a nearby volcano that threatens the park.
