Few places on our planet remain unexplored, but one of them is here in Hawaii, on the eastern slopes of the Mauna Kea Volcano.</p><p>National Geographic's Eric Leifer and his team went on a quest to find out what lies inside the untouched canyons of this remote area....and film it!</p><p>Their footage reveals them struggling through countless waterfalls and nearly impenetrable vegetation, even jumping off a small cliff into a pool of water below.</p><p><a name=\"_GoBack\"></a></p><p>By documenting this pristine forest, the team hopes to be able to fill in another blank spot on our maps.</p><p>That's National Geographic On Assignment\u2014your link to our Explorers.</p>",
